The dash

I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend
He referred to the dates on her tombstone
From the beginning ... to the end.

To All Parents

I’ll lend you for a little time a child of mine, he said, For you to love the while she lives and mourn for when she’s dead, Maybe six or seven years or twenty-two or three, But will you, ‘til I call her back, take care of her for me?

When Great Trees Fall

When great trees fall,
rocks on distant hills shudder,
lions hunker down
in tall grasses,
and even elephants
lumber after safety.

To Where You Are

Who can say for certain
Maybe you're still here
I feel you all around me
Your memories so clear

Deep in the stillness
I can hear you speak
You're still an inspiration
Can it be
That you are mine
Forever love
And you are watching over me from up above

How griefHaven® Started

Erika

My name is Susan Whitmore, and I am deeply sorry for your loss. I, too, know the pain of losing someone I love.
