Explanation of Grief Support Available
(we provide Zoom support groups around the world.)
- Private, Closed Groups: In-person meetings take place in Pacific Palisades, California.
- In Person/Online: These groups are facilitated by either a licensed therapist, certified grief counselor, or nondenominational chaplain. We strive to give each group one facilitator who has had the same loss as those in the group. Private groups are powerful because being with the same people consistently builds trust and rapport, deepens bonds, and helps each person learn about the grief they are experiencing. That is why each person who joins a group starts with a specific group of people who have had the same loss, meet every other week, and must commit to:
-
- Child Loss - 12 months
- Spousal Loss - 6 months
- Sibling Loss – 6 months
- Parent Loss – 6 months
- Other Losses - 6 months
- Groups meet either in person or online every other week. Meeting times vary depending upon group.
- Phone Meeting: In order to attend first private/closed group, a phone interview is required.
- Once someone starts with a group, they stay with those same people, meeting every other week.
- Cost: There is a cost to attending a griefHaven private group; however, if financial assistance is needed, the griefHaven office works something out with each individual.
- Group Facilitators: There are usually two facilitators per group. Whenever possible, one of those facilitators has either had the same loss as the others in that group or another major, significant loss in their lives.
