An award winning drama representing Shana Feste’s debut as writer/director, “The Greatest” stars Pierce Brosnan and Susan Sarandon as Allen and Grace Brewer, a grief-stricken couple whose family has been pushed to the breaking point by the death of their older son, Bennett, in a car crash. When a young woman, Rose, (Carey Mulligan) shows up a few months later announcing that she is pregnant with Bennett’s child, the Brewer’s are forced to take her in. At first, Rose’s presence threatens to tear the family even further apart but, eventually, her interaction with each of the Brewers proves to be the very thing that brings them back together. THE GREATEST, which Brosnan also produced with longtime partner Beau St. Clair, and Lynette Howell, finds the actor at a particularly exciting time in his career, with four new films opening in early 2010. Oscar-winner Sarandon will soon be seen in “Wall Street 2”, (which also stars her GREATEST co-star, Carey Mulligan.) And, Mulligan’s performance in the acclaimed hit, “An Education,” remains one of the most rapturously received debuts of the last decade, and garnered her “Best Actress” nods from BAFTA, and the National Board of Review, and earned her Golden Globe, SAG and Oscar nominations for “Best Actress.” Rounding out the cast of THE GREATEST are rising star Aaron Johnson, who will soon be seen alongside Nicolas Cage in “Kick-Ass” and as the young John Lennon in “Nowhere Boy;” Johnny Simmons, who recently co-starred in “Jennifer’s Body,” and Robert Redford’s forthcoming historical drama, “The Conspirator;” Zoe Kravitz, soon to be seen in Joel Schumacher’s “Twelve;” and last year’s Academy Award-nominee, Michael Shannon. Feste recently wrapped production on the country music drama “Love Don’t Let Me Down ,” starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Tim McGraw, Garrett Hedlund and Leighton Meester.
